A Poem from July 17, 2018

As I sit here in the silence and wait
My thoughts travel to a far place
A place I cannot see with my eyes
Because it's dark inside

You take my hand and guide me there
To the dark cave that is worry's lair
The sun shines bright where we stand
But we both walk in, hand in hand

I start to tremble for the water is getting deep
But you light a lamp and hold it above my feet
And though each step is unknown
It is still your hand that I hold

You tell me that there is no need to fear
Wherever I am, you are near
And even though this dark place hinders my sight
My vision you will be, both day and night

When the flood of fear rushes in this cave
You bring me to a ledge where I am unafraid
And as I watch all my worry pass beneath
I realize you are the reason I am able to defeat

You shall be my first and my last thought
The world says I need more, but I shall not
For it is because of you I overcome
